If you're the buyer....why the hell is it your responsibility to crate it up and ship it

I've sold and shipped engines and stuff before. The SELLER does everything you're asking about.

Unless you have something to add that I missed or you left out.

I shipped a short block from Ohio to California using Yellow Freight. I brought the block to them on a pallet and they wrapped it in plastic. It cost me about $275.

I bought a complete WWII flathead iron TUMOR back a few years ago and it only cost around 90 bucks delivered in town.

Put it on a pallet and the oil pan should hold it and just saran wrap it with industrial wrap it should be fine. The oil pan will hold her.

$500 is a bit high. I shipped a big block from FL to CA for $120 via fed ex freight.

I put it on a heavy duty pallet and bought some ratcheting straps to hold it down, I also made some metal brackets to bolt it to the pallet.
Be sure nothing passes through where the forks go, they can cut straps, etc.

When I ship thing I google shipping quote. You type in the weight, where he is shipping it from and the destanation and it gives you a approximate of what it is going to cost to ship it. Now above I read the cost to box it up. So you will have to find out how much it weighs and go from there. $500 sounds asine to me.
