if you want to make big power down the road yes, if you leave it stock, no. They make less power in stock form, and weigh more. but heads/cam or turbo and yes it'll be worth it.

When you start changing heads and cams, etc. The 6.0 is the clear winner.

There is no replacement for displacement.

That is not right. The LQ4 was rated at 325, while the LS1 was rated from 305 to 345. I did a track test with my SS when it had the LS1, then two weeks later when it had the LQ4. The LQ4 ran identical times to the LS1. Granted the LQ4 is heavier, but made more power to equal the lighter LS1 times at the track.

Now if you get an LQ9 or LS2, it should be more power and better performance.

I have had several questions on this topic, i just spun a bearing in the bottom end heads are good on my ls1 and were recently ported with fairly new cam... what kinda compression am i looking at swapping over the heads to a lq4 or lq9 , previously was a stock bottom end that put down 361whp on a mild cam. will all accesories and pan gaskets etc. swap over? i really will just be using a shortblock or that was the plans atleast, Any information or suggestions anyone may have would be much appreciated...

being iron and lower compression i later planned on throwing small shot on it as well..

2600lbs 93 rx7 that should be enough power ...I think lol

last question its a 98 and i believe the head number is 805's or 6, not 853's like most ls1's they are a parameter valve cover not center, i was told they have slightly larger chambers not quite the same compression

sorry to thread jack i just had many of the same questions.
