Default battery tender placement

i got a battery tender.....cant get it to fit anywhere on the battery itself using the O-ring type connector. on the drivers side, next the the fuse boxes, there is an auxilary positive terminal, with a ground to the body next to it. would it be safe to bolt the tender to those posts and charge the battery from there?

I just use the spring clips on my battery posts, place the unit where it is safe and sound, run the cord down through the engine bay, plug it in to make sure it's working, and close the hood.

No problems...
