Default Driving with open headers?

Put on my pacesetter longtubes tonight. I believe TSP sent me the wrong y-pipe. It would NOT clear the trans mount no matter what I tried. Maybe I am just retarted? It is their catted Y.

So since I could not get that on, I was forced to drive home with open headers. On top of that, it was 130 AM

Anyways, can you mess anything up by driving with open headers? I had the 2 front O2 sensors in.

Thanks guys. I need some quick answers.

It will feel like a slug even when I have the rest of the exhaust on?

I have 2 extra o2's that I could replace the ones in now if that will help.

dont throw those rears on as your "extras"... i did that and within 100 miles my car went into safe mode, just get the new O2s and be able to sleep at night.

Exactly.

And with most things - spend the money to do it right, or don't do it at all.

Don't feel bad, I had to drive home at 3:30am here when we got the headers on. Didn't have time to put the Y pipe on lol. So yea, it wont cause any harm cause I drove a week like that, I would just recommend driving around town and not often because it could heat the floor boards up and melt some stuff down there so be careful.

the tune will definately help, especially if you've NEVER been tuned at all.

i have heard the cool air entering the really hot headers after shutting the car off is what messes up the O2s. anyone else heard that?

I think it is all a myth..

Any cold air going into the headers would be warmed by the headers themselves right?

It doesn't have to do with the car being shut off, it has to do with the O2's reading the ambient air outside since they are so close to the exhaust exit and it screws with them.

Yes you can really mess up your hearing by driving with open headers.

Remember hearing loss does not heal with time.

Werd. The air being sucked in messes with your tune. Those o2's help control your a/f ratio. And if you are sucking in "unspent" air, your pcm will think something is wrong.

this is mabye the most important post in the thread so far, loud is fun, but be careful. hearing aids suck enough to outweigh any benefits from drinvg with open headers for long periods of time. im already starting to pay for it, my car combined with the band and working around stereo equpiment all day long, and now im a 20 year old that has the hearing of a 50 year old
