Default extrusion porting?

I recently stumbled upon a process of porting that was explained like this: A plastic, abrasive-laden polymer media is pushed through a part, such as an intake or exhaust manifold clamped to the processing machine. The media sands away unwanted material, stress risers, and burrs from the internal passage ways creating a smooth, polished surface. For most applications, the flow of the abrasive media is extruded in the same direction as the normal flow of the engine’s fuel and exhaust gasses.

Has anyone heard of this or done it to thier ls1 heads? I would post the link to the specific website but I do not see that specific company in the sponsor list (not sure if it is allowed or not). I don't know how many companies are out there that do this.

I have a pair of 2000 fbody exhaust manifolds that were extrude honed. They look nice have a smoother finish. The person I got them from said they were worth about 5rwhp over the non-ported stock 2000 exhaust manifolds. I went with long tubes in the end. Extude hone is pretty pricey. I think $ wise you'll come out with a better gain at a lower price with a quailty set of headers. Good Luck.

i got quoted almost 800 dollars to have a pair of manifolds extrude honed... not worth it IMO. I myself went with long tubes too.

My Saleen had the intake Extrude Honed and I believe that it does help some. If you are looking for every last bit of HP then go for it. But if you are just going to do it just to do it, then I'd just stick with a standard port job.

Just my .02¢

if you were running races in a class that required lots of factory parts then it might be worth it but price vs. hp its not near practical.
