Unless you need to for an intercooler situtation, don't. There's no point, it's not like you're going to be cutting off big weight or anything, trust me. Take it off and lift it, it doesn't weigh ****. However, it does add structural rigitity.

Basically, this is one of those situations where the cons greatly outweigh the pros...

98redbird is right, you should leave it, if you really are looking to cut weight look somewhere else. cons defanately outweigh the pros!

If your trying to get the cam only record, or stock internal record then ya remove it. Any weight out is making you faster.

Pros/Cons.... What are your goals?

I removed mine and haven't had any problems. 21.5 pounds according to the weight reduction sticky.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...y-updated.html

That is alot of weight off the nose of the car.

Example: Lightweight K-member will cost $600 and save 25#s. It is one of the first things people remove to save weight.

I would say that unless you are making other weight reduction then you will probably not notice the difference. I removed both bumper supports, spare tire, hvac, front sway bar, airbags, door bars, AIR/EGR, rear seats, cruise control and cut the inner fender wells and frame horns. Also installed light weight carpet. Lost around 300 pounds.... it all adds up.

Of course, it is a H/C/I/N2O street/strip car w/ full suspension and a 9" rear end. I would never do that to a DD or a pure street car.

EDIT: you will lose your fog lights.... It is not really noticable though since they are offset deep into the bumper.

if you are putting down some good power do not do anything i would get some steal flat stock 3/4 wide and 1/8 thick and do a x type brace this should help keep it from twisting and if by chance you do hit some thing you dont have insto junk cooler

The only true positive I see in keeping the piece on the can is for front end strength.

I mean, a head on collision would destroy the car's front end without that piece.
