It's a fifth generation zeta Camaro. No debate required.

And if you read all these articles it looks like the zeta platform is going to die soon since the government wants all of us driving extremly fuel efficient cars. Bastards!

It's an F-body. VIN tells the story. The end.

Sorry Genius try again!
The "F" code in the 4th digit is a designation of a GM F-body. Going by the decryption of the VIN, here's how it breaks down.
(and this is most of my personal VIN, so you LS1 guys will be slightly different)
1st - Country - 2 Canada
2nd - Manufacturer G - General Motors
3rd - Make 1 - Chevrolet
4th - Carline Code F - F-Body
5th - Series P - Camaro (All Models)
6th - Body Type 2 - 2-Door Hatchback Coupe
7th - Restraint Syst. 2 - Manual seatbelts (Driver & Passenger Inflatable)
8th - Engine K - L36 3.8-Liter V6 231-cid Engine
9th - Check Digit - Your VIN's Check Digit: 2 Computed Check Digit: 2
10th - Year 1 - 2001
11th - Factory 2 - Ste. Therese, Quebec, Canada
12th - 17th Seq. Prod #
So therefore, the 4th digit is the body style under the specific make defined by the 3rd digit, made under that specific manufacturer. So yes, you can call at Nissan Pathfinder an F-Body, but it's an F-Body under Nissan's criteria. A GM F-Body is the Camaro and Firebird, end of story. Argue all you want, the VIN tells the story on all of GM's vehicles. So keep you're nicknames, it's still just a 5th Gen F-Body.

F platform = 1967-2002
F platform = F-body
new camaro = Z platform
Z platform = F-body?
yes, the 4th digit of the VIN is also F, but you can/will have other cars with that F in the VIN which are not based on the F platform. as you argued, with the 2010 camaro on the Zeta platform, they're using the F in the VIN. with Obama's administration influencing GM, if by some horrid turn of events the 2012 camaro is a 4 cylinder hybrid (with a bigger battery and solar paneled hood in SS trim), GM would still put that F as the 4th digit in the VIN. why? because its the carline/series and not the damned platform/body that they're identifying

if you really want to get techincal, 4th digit in VIN is not the body.
http://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/
technically, the 4th and 5th digits are the "carline/series."
so its no surprise GM would use the same identifier for the carline/series, but you can't argue that this describes the body/platform.
the shared platform between the firebird and camaro was the F platform from 67-02 and this is from where "F-Body" was coined.
to summarize:
all F-body cars have F in the 4th digit in the VIN, but not all cars that have F in the 4th digit of the VIN are F-bodies.
