Question true or false?

This weekend my brother in law said that his c6 Zo6 in not an f-body. I wanted the say it was cause that's what I heard but wasn't sure so I stayed shut. Didn't wanna look stupid. He also said that the floor board was made of wood that was treated with some stuff.

It is not an F-body. It's a Y body if I recall correctly.

It is a Y-Body.

The GM Y-Body is the chassis platform shared by the Chevrolet Corvette and the Cadillac XLR. It has a rear-wheel drive, front-engined V8 layout, accommodating either a small block Chevrolet V8 (such as an LT4 or LS1) in the Corvette, or the 32-valve DOHC Northstar V8 in the XLR. The Y-Body also has 4-wheel independent suspension. Like a standard rear-wheel drive, front-engined chassis, the Y-Body's V8 engine is longitudinally mounted, but unlike many such cars, the Y-Body incorporates a rear-mounted transaxle instead of a transmission mounted directly to the engine. Power is transferred to the transaxle via a torque tube. The transaxle is offered in both 6-speed automatic and 6-speed manual versions.

The C6 Z06 uses aluminum and balsa wood for the frame structure and floors.

Op,
good thing you kept your mouth shut.
Better to ask when you're not sure.

It's a Y body, balsa wood.

I believe the balsa wood started on the C5s and it must have worked well because it carried over to the C6. I don't think it's correct to say that it was used on Y bodies though, I don't think the XLR used balsa wood but I could be wrong since I don't know anything about XLRs.

Yeah the idea that a high tech sandwich of materials would be used to lighten weight in an expensive sports car is absolutely ridiculous .
GM should have just stuck to using iron, the same kind that is used in WW1 war ships because that must be strong.

BTW C6Zs don't cost 80k, according to Chevy's website they MSRP at just under $75,000 and we all know that those cars aren't going for MSRP these days. Let me correct myself, we should all know this but judging by your above post I'm not so confident that you are aware of this fact.
