Should I buy it?
Having a very hard time deciding if I should or should'nt buy this car. Its a 1999 z28 m6 with 46k miles on it for $5,500. The problem is it is a rebuilt title car and the carfax states overturned, very severe damage. The guy selling it said all he had to replace when he bought it was the windshield, roof and back hatch. Judging on the pictures he sent me it seems to be in pretty ok shape deffinatly not perfect but not bad either. He says everything works on it and the engine/tranny are perfect in it. The other problem is that I'm going to be going to school in the fall but if I were to buy this car I'd have $3000 left over for school and I have a Escort thats also paid off that I would drive in the winter. Not sure if I should go for it or pass? Thanks for any input!

Heres the pictures I got from him of it. It's 5 hours away so not sure how easy it would be to take it to a body shop but I'm pretty confident in myself looking it over. Its the cheapest ls1 m6 anywhere around here and is as much as I would be willing to spend as I need to save my money for school. Also kind of an offtopic question but how much does it cost to insure a car your storing? Me and my dad are arguing back and forth he says I only need 1 car but that would mean having full coverage year round whereas with a summer car and a beater car I would just need full on the camaro in the summer and liabilty on the escort year round. Thanks for the input!

decklid alignment way off and there is something weird about the drivers windshield pillar. I'd run away from that car.. spend a little more and get one that hasn't been frankensteined.

I wouldn't even low ball him. That thing is just trouble waiting to happen. First things I noticed were deck lid off, the front fender popping out (not hard to fix, but it goes to attention to detail), bumpers don't fit right, sail panel has HUGE gaps, etc. Plus those wheels look like
Plus, to do the kind of damage that would make you need to replace the roof, windshield, and back hatch, that sounds like a roll over to me, and there was a lot more bodywork done than the seller really wants to admit to. But maybe a tree fell on top of it.
Another big thing, in the third picture, the one of the interior, you can see it's missing the pillar panel, and there's rust on the metal underneath. And most people would tend to vaccuum/take all the crap out of their car if they're taking pictures to sell it...
I'd just walk away. Scratch that, run away.

The rust on the A- pillar is where they did a shoddy job welding on a new roof. Run far, far away. I got my '98 LS1 Formula M6 for $6500 back in '06 and it was in great shape. You will easily find one for $5500 with around 100K on it and it'll have another 150K+ in it before it needs a rebuild!
