Default launch control...

basically, I have a 98 t/a m6 and I haven't figured out exactly how to launch it. I've bogged, i've spun and i've smoked the clutch(once). Now I have the worst tires in the world, so that's probably why I rarely hook without rolling slowly off the line.

So i want to hear your launch techniques fellow m6ers and post ur mods and best 60' if u want.

x2000000. some people are lucky and their 10 bolt will stand up to it, some (like me) can break it on street tires with stock power. slicks ive heard are easier on the 10 bolt since they are a soft tire, but still not advised.

I have the mods in my signature, and ran a 2.2 60ft at 13.7@105mph. I have 275 Good Year Eagle F1's. I left at 2500 and didn't dump the clutch but let it out pretty fast. I think if I really really slipped the clutch good I could have pulled a 2.1 or maybe a 2.0

with those 60 foots your ten bolt should last a while wait till you are trying to cut 1.60s in an M6 and then see how long she last.

Opposite. It's harder on the 10 bolt because it's a soft tire, so it grips harder and puts more stress on the drivetrain, namely your 10 bolt which is the weak point. Spinning = it should live, hooking = d-e-a-t-h

totally. How hard do you think it would be to rertrofit a C4 IR

This C4 IRS resides in Jay Cutshaw's '94 Firebird, Usingthe stock Vettehalfshafts, the entire IRS ends up about 'A inch nar- rower per side ( 1 7 ; inches narrower over- all] than the stock Gen 4 F-body rearend. You can run wheel adapters to permit use of the stock wheels (Vette Brakes is one source ] or get custom wheels with reduced backspacing. ' Boh-on installation ^ NO welding required ?? Superior handling ^ Unequalled ride quality ' Proven patented sealing technology .'16 position adjustable \valving À Swapping a complete '9?-'O4 Vette C5 or '05-present C6 IRS [independent rearsuspen- sion) into an F-car is difficult because the C5/ C6 Corvette transmissions bolt directly to the rearend housing, connecting to the engine via 3 unique torque tube and beilhousing arrangement

Search the suspension and or rear end section. Really not worth the money, especially if you are looking for a stronger rear end (the C4 IRS is said to be not much stronger than a 10 bolt).
If you are looking for a handling improvement by doing this, you need to fix the main problem first: the stock shocks.

Cam, spooled 9" dumping at 6k. 1.58 60ft. It really takes practice to launch the M6. With a 10 bolt I would rev to about 2500 and wait til the clutch just barely starts to grab then roll into the throttle as your letting out on the clutch. I was getting 1.9 60's with my stock clutch going out like that. Really just need to practice. Stay with it and you'll get it.

P.S. Ditch the 10 bolt ASAP cause it'll start howling like a broke dick dog soon lol.

I wouldnt bother. I dont know for sure but I imagine the Vette rear is similar to the GTO which a buddy has ('05) and stock internals LS2 with overdriven (12#) Procharger and drag radials it broke the stock axles and then broke the "1000 hp" Aussie axles. He now runs Ford 9" with four link and has no problems.

I slip the clutch & launch it around 4-4.5k rpms, somewhere in there but that will vary depending on your setup & hp. I was runnin consistent 1.8-1.9 60s every time. Thats with Nitto DRs, & heating them up. I installed a front brake line lock that I bought from SJM manufacturing http://www.sjmmanufacturing.com/cam_brk_ls1.html
You really need one of these to do a proper burnout if you have a manual trans. It allows you to lock the front brakes so you dont need to side step the clutch to do a burnout. The one I bought was about $150 & it didnt take much more than 1 hr to install. After a burnout, I tried launching it at a lower rpm (2-3k rpms) but it would bog the engine. Thats because the tires were hooking so good. I could launch it higher like around 5k & get a better 60 time, but I am afraid the 10 bolt may break. Some have ran some very good 60 times (1.5-1.6) with the 10 bolt but its been said by many F-body guys that 1.7 60s is where they like to break. If & when my 10 bolt breaks I will more than likely upgrade to a 12 bolt or 9 inch.
