Default Carfax vs GMVIS

Whats the difference? Should I be paying for carfax or is VIS significantly better (if I can find someone to do it for me)?

Carfax is good, a useful tool, but is far from perfect. Many instances of missed accidents or damage. The reporting system is far from flawless. By all means get a Carfax to learn about mileage and ownership at the very least. You need to use every resource available in buying a used car unless you know the person or the documented maintenance history is so precise you just don't need to bother.

GMVIS will show all warranty service done to the car as long as all the original options, build date, etc. Good to catch fake WS6's and things of that nature as well as spot a lemon.

Carfax missed a couple wrecks on my car... so don't trust it 100%. But it is a good tool as stated above for the basics.

if the wreck wasn't reported, it won't show.

Carfax is not designed to show every wreck on a vehicle, the only thing that carfax guarantees is the TITLE is clean, ie, not salvage, COD, Flood, Lemon...

Although, the last carfax report I pulled showed my car getting a new battery under warranty before it was purchased, lol.

Sometimes they catch a wreck, sometimes they do not.
