What? Why would they expect a hydrolocked engine to catch fire?

Sometimes I wonder about insurance companies. That just makes no sense.

they were saying they dont cover engine damage unless the car catches on fire or is the result of an accident...

pull the spark plugs and crank the motor.

Put a squirt of oil in each cylinder, put fresh plugs in and hope she cranks over

Chances are not good, but you may get lucky

Im an adjuster, and have handled many hydrolock claims. They should be handled under comprehensive coverage. Each ins co has their own exclusions and rules as far as what falls under comp, but most of the time from my experience there should be no issues w/ coverage. Depending on what is trashed inside the motor, 99.9% of the time, I just look for a used long block from LKQ or a local salvage yard with similar mileage and pay for that.

Since you have the blower on there, it depends if you bought additional aftermarket coverage for your policy or not if that part will be covered. I would suggest not touching the car until the ins co looks at it. Tow it to the shop of your choice and have them diagnose what needs to be done.

Feel free to ask me any questions, Im a property damage specialist for one of the top 4 insurance companies and only handled engine/trans issues and high end car claims.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!!

SOOOO i did nothing to my car and left it the way it was. The block is completely cracked and the rod was what snapped.

INSURANCE for comprehensive is the shizzle and USAA did a wonderful job. They ARE paying me straight out at 4700 for a new motor and time to actually get the job done. Honestly it is all about the adjuster. If you can tell them honestly and show good people skills, they will help you out. He was awesome and bumped my cars value from all the add ons and got a perfect quote JUST to match so the car wouldnt get totalled. SOOOOOO with that being said, make sure you have a reputable insurance company and make sure you have comp coverage or you will pay in situations like these.

SOOOOO now i gotta check out some motors so i can stop running 7lbs of boost LOL!

Thanks for all the input guys and thanks for the positive ones LOL All the other comments had me skured like a lil school girl LOL!!

State Farm only gave me 2,800 for a used engine from a junk yard with over 100,000 miles on it. You did very good. I'm out of my own pocket 2,000 and my car still is not running. I didn't buy the junkyard motor though. I spent 3,800 for a AFR heads and cam longblock from a member on here. It's being put together now but the install is taking half of the 2,800. What a joke.

Call TSP and buy a long block that can handle some boost.

Mahle Forged Pistons, Eagle Crank and Engine Pro rods.
For $275, we could get Eagle Rods and have the rods and crank Armour coated which would then carry a 1 year warranty on those components from failure.
