Default Cam retainer Plate wear=Engine Failure

Found out metal shavings were in my oil pan. I saw the back of the cam plate and yes it is engrooved with markings. Well ya live and learn. My engine is being rebuilt now and I think will be better than before. Look at the pics where the shaving fell in the oil pan.

We are still trying to figure it out but it is an GM defect. I am goin with a double roller which has a bearing in it so this wont happen again. The original plate was badly scarred. I heard that GM now has a new design plate with countersunk holes compared to original plate. Thank God My Heads, intake rr and cam are ok.
