^^^Damn theres some knowledge/expirience in this thread.

+1, everything that works together will make more power and bigger not always better. Im working on a video tutorial of my flow bench right now to show just that.

going to be stock runner/stock valve vs p&p runner/stock valve vs stock runner/big valve vs p&p runner/big valve on a gm head 706 and a SuperFlow Flow Bench

A few years ago when I was running a 346 in my C5 with A4 transmission, I made 430 rwhp and 400 rwtq with a locked converter. I ran a best of 10.69@126.76. When I went to a 427, I sold my 346 to a friend who put it in his firebird (N2RacingLS1s) and has gone a best of 10.53. F-body cars seem to transfer weight much better than C5s and he is running alot looser converter as well as a turbo 400 transmission, but the fact is that the engine ran (and still runs) great at the track. Big dyno numbers don't always transfer to great ET's and MPH at the track. The dyno is only a tuning tool, but it helps get you close.

I agree with everybody else, dyno numbers don't win races.

My dyno numbers are less then impressive. 390 rwhp and that was locked. Unlocked it was closer to 360 rwhp. But I am cam only and I run 11.5-11.7 @ 115-117 at the track

If you want to hit your goal you'll need a lot of help. Stick with a 10 bolt since it eats less HP. Stick with a built 4L60E for the same reason. Then go with a fast 92, TFS 215 heads and a big cam. And of course every bolt on known in the LS1 world.

But like everyone else says. It's the track numbers and butt dyno that matters when you have a stalled auto. Let the M6 guys worry about dyno racing or flexing thier dyno muscles

EDIT: Just saw you all ready have a built motor in your sig. It all looks good but I wouldn't be expecting big numbers out of Patriot heads. They are a budget head and work very well but won't put out numbers like TFS, ETP or AFR.

I wouldn't worry about the dyno other then for tuning. I would get it to the track and focus on that number. There is a reason I have a track time in my sig and not a dyno number
