Ok so during my heads /cam swap i apparantly pulled out the tranny dipstick enough to pull the rubber grommet out and have some fluid pour out all over the floor. No biggie i figured ill just put it back in WRONG , how wrong was i.....I spent the last 3 hours trying to push it back in and i couldnt do it. In the process the old grommet ripped off so i went and bought a new one. Now my problem is i cannot pull the tranny tube out far enough to slip the new grommet on the end , this is all thats stopping me from finishing my car. Please anyone with any tips please help ![Icon Confused](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/icon_confused.gif)

Assuming you have a F-body, have you tried to pull the dip stick all the way out first, then pull the dip stick tube out? You probably did, but had to ask. You should be able to pull the tube out without the dipstick.

if its a 4l60e then the dipstick tube is bolted to the back of the head, remove the bolt move the tube and use some wheel bearing grease on the inside and outside of the grommet. install it in the tranny first, then push the dipstick tube into it. reinstall the bolt on the head.
ps my tranny currently resides on the floor underneath the car so i can take close up pics if you want.
