i stopped visiting this website for atleast 4 years over this subject but i cant resist. my A4 w 2:73's best mpg was 25 all highway. worst 18, city avg 20 mpg, next year i'll have a 3k stall. i dont believe the people that say they get 30 mpg. i have asked anybody to step up and post milage w fill & after driving the tank almost empty go back to the same station & same pump for refill. post mileage & even receipt w #of gallons so we can do the math. thx cheers.

just read though the whole thing.

couple quick questions?

what type of fuel are you using? ethonal blend or 100% gasoline?

why no 6th gear? i cruise around town at 50 or so in 6th gear, sometimes i even skip 2nd and go to 3rd or even 4th.

my gas mileage is maybe 12-14 mpg, using 100% gasoline. 2002 M6, SLP lip and Loudmouth 1 exhaust, 3.42 rear gears, everything else stock.

It is supposed to bounce around because they only see a narrow band of AFR. It indicates they are functioning. Having them hang low or high would have indicated a problem. The LTFTs give a better idea. Negative or positive trims would be a clue. For instance if you had leaky injectors we might see negative trims at idle, slightly negative at cruise and more neutral under power.

I have owned both LT1 and LS1 Formula M6's. I daily drove the LT and my LS is now cammed and basically a garage queen. I used to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-22 with the LT. My daily commute was 90% highway. My LS, I bought stock. The best I ever got out of it was 25 on a long trip. Now that its cammed I average 16-18 with a highway trip best of 22ish.

I wont call BS on some of the MPG numbers I read because I once owned a car that routinely got higher than expected numbers, but 30+ out of these cars is tough for me to imagine based on my personal experience. I dont get that amount with my 4cyl Toyota Venza company car that I put 40000 miles a year on.
