Default Mechanics and techs please help engine swap question

My ls1 blew and the mechanic origanlly quoted me 1000$ labor charge to replace it with a new ls1.. I decided to get a ls6 crate engine, now they are quoting about 1500$ because they are saying it's not a complete engine and it will be alot more labor .. Does this sound legit or do you thinking I'm getting ripped off?

Ask for specifics. What about the LS6 isn't complete? What else are they having to do? Get it all in writing on an estimate, then decide from there what you want to do. No one will rip you off unless you let them...

Tell them its an LS1...

But then you'll get into work warranty issues and all that. Maybe just find someone else to do the work.
