Wow, I honestly can't believe your father in law is ok. That looks like quite a hit. Glad you both made it out alright. Any idea how fast the Explorer was going?

Thanks for all the comments back. Going to try to answer some of those questions for you. First no one in the explorer was hurt just cuts and scrapes. The insurance will not be paying for my car as I only had Liability, just took off full coverage for the winter because I did not think I would be driving it. The passenger my father-in-law had some more serious injury's, he had 4 broke ribs,a punctured lung, it punctured his intestine, some minor bleeding on the brain that stopped on its own, and a broken leg. He got out of the hospital 5 day's after the wreck and made a b-line down here to see the car. The bar in the door took one hell of a hit but held fast and had to be cut out by the firemen who came to help us to get the passenger out. As for how it happened, I was coming home in a slight curve on a rain slick road with winds gusting up to about 50 mph that day, I was doing about 35 or 40 and lost control, over corrected and hit a concrete storm drain went across a grass median and was hit in the side, I don't remember most of that but my father-in-law does. I was not goofing off and have driven that road every day for about 5 years because it was a block from my home. God truly was watching over us, I am thankful it was not worse and that my kids were not in the car.
