Wow! Just read this online in the AJC (Atlanta newspaper). Talk about a money grab, this may take the all-time award. Effective Jan 1 any speeder over 85 mph (75 mph on 2 lane roads) will be charged an additonal $200 on top of the already very expensive citation. The lawmakers scream that this is going to save LIVES!!! For those not familiar with Atlanta, if you do not travel 70-75 mph on the interstates you will get run down. That doesn't leave much room for error. I feel bad for you GA LSX owners. Thank heavens that each individual officer still has discretion to write citations. Being extra polite will certainly earn many drivers a a 74 or 84 mph ticket in lieu of the added 'tax'. I can hear the politicians calling all the police chiefs and sheriffs around the state making sure the officers comply with the new law. Gotta get that MONEY!! How sad.... It isn't about safety anymore, just grab your wallet.
