Default Selling the WS6 For an 06 GTO?

Aright fellas I have a deliemma here. I currently have a 2002 black on black WS6 six speed that is fully loaded, traction control etc. It has longtubes, true duels, short throw, Nitto 555Rs, etc and made 361 RWHP and 377 RWFT to the wheels. It is a STRONG car, and I love it. However, I only drive it a 100 miles a week or so because I have a 99 automatic, bolt on formula that I drive during the week for work and school. I travel about 500-1000 miles a week for my job, and frankly am not sure having a car like the 02 sitting in the garage is the best thing. I'm considering selling both and buying an 05-06 GTO. They can be had with a six speed for under 20k with under 20k miles . It would be my only car, but would also be much newer, nicer etc. My buddy has an 06 I have driven a few times, and it is a STRONG car. Plus a warranty would be nice. If I keep both my cars I will be spending about 5k on the 02 and cam it with full suspension, clutch, etc but if I sell and buy the GTO I will eventually have a C6 in the garage (probably about a year or so down the road.) So lets hear it guys, thoughts, opinions, etc. Any car I get will at the very least get full exhaust, tune, etc.
Thanks,
Blake

I'd much rather have a DD F-body plus a "toy" F-body for the weekends, than just one DD GTO.

On the other hand, going with a C6 for the toy and a GTO for the DD would be fun as well.

I will never again have only one car. That sort of living just isn't for me.

I do love having two cars! While I love my WS6, the formula is a little older and has twice the miles (88k as compared to 48k), and I find myself craving a nicer car for those long drives. I love my friend's GTO, but at the same time I think I would miss the hell out of my WS6. I could always just sell the formula, but then I would need a loan for the GTO on top of that, as opposed to paying cash, and that isn't something I care to do honestly. This is a tough call!

My GTO would be Quicksilver or Spice Red, which I LOVE, whereas my WS6 is
black, which isn't my all time favorite. (which is such a pain to keep clean.

Driving as much as you do, no car is going to stay very nice for long. 25-50k miles per year really takes its toll on any car, and leaves you with very little time to keep it nice. Also, spending that much time in any car will make it seem boring after a while.

Guess what I'm saying is, unless the Formula is having major problems at the moment, I'd rather keep DD'ing that since it's paid for and already has a lot of miles anyway.

Sounds to me you just need a cheap DD for going to work and back. Find something good on gas and is reliable. Older manual civics and sort like that are great for using for going to work. One thing I wouldn't do is get rid of the WS6. Thosecars will always remain exotic and will be a car everyone likes.

I just bought a cavalier so my ws6 can stay in the garage and keep clean. I drive 80-100 miles/day and I was not enjoying watching my miles go up and up on the ta. The cavalier has a smaller tank and gets 100 miles more than the ta does.

Think of it this way, getting a 06 gto to replace ur trans am is basically getting a car that is more money, gets lower mpg on gas, is more comfortable, and is pretty much exactly as fast as your trans am with those mods listed. So it's up to you, it has it's ups and downs but im not sure I would choose the gto over the trans am if it meant sacrifices.

I actally just picked up an '08 Cobalt SS last week for my new daily. Traded in my '97 Grand Prix GTP which had close to 200,000 on it. It still ran perfectly, but it had other issues that old cars tend to develop such as water leaks and HVAC issues, and I'd had enough. So far the Cobalt is a nice DD, good fuel economy and fun to drive.

As for GTO vs. F-body, I've driven my friends '05 LS2 GTO, and its a much better daily driver than any F-body could ever be. Much better interior, much more comfortable, better seating position, ect.

I love my wifes GTO, even thought about selling the t/a to get another one, but the thought of daily driving one isnt for me. Not that it isnt a awesome car, but i just cant see racking up the miles on a GTO, or a WS6 for that mater. Get a beater with a heater, keep the WS6 and get a goat, or a C6

If you want a nicer DD just trade in or sell the formula and get an Audi A4, comfy and good gas mileage.

His Trans Am should definitely be faster than a stock LS2 GTO with HP numbers like that plus less weight.

I find the seating position in an F-body to be better actually...especially steering wheel and shifter position. Guess everyone is different.....I've never been in a car that was a more glove-like fit for me than an F-body.

This is very true. My worry is I sell the WS6 and the Formula, buy a nice 6.0, and then it turns to **** after 50k miles of Georgia highway!

The Trans Am definately pulled a tuned, otherwise stock M6 6.0 by a car and a half. I just love that damn GTO interior!

I agree the GTO interior is very nice. I would get it (If it was me), at 47 and too many BMX bike tricks as a kid and wake boarding, I hurt a lot these days.... Comfort and performance is kinda-of nice these days. I have a 99 Z-28 M-6 which will either go to a GTO or 1st gen CTS-V in 1-2 years. Do what you think would want in 1-3 years, and enjoy it.

I was also kicking around the idea of getting an 04 for around 12-13 with about 30k on the ticker by just waiting a while, saving some cash, and selling the formula to boot. However, I think I'd be disappointed without that 6.0! I'd probably always be going "what if I had spent an extra 3k and gotten that 05-06"
