WS6 hood
I recently was in an accident with my 2001 WS6. It is at a certified allstate shop. Went by there today and they tell me they cannot find a hood for it. Anybody know where to get one from?

They can't find it? Well, isn't it their responsibility to do whatever it takes to fix the car? I don't understand what they're trying to say-that they can't fix your car? gmpartsdirect.com has it in stock. Sure, the price is just under 2K but hey, your insurance company has been gouging people for years so it all works out...

Tell them to look harder. They are out there. If it was me, I would not let them put an aftermarket hood on the car either. They are not the same as OEM. You have to be strong and stick to your guns or they will run over you to save every penny they can.

Oh wow. Well, obviously you want to stick to your guns, but don't they have the final say on what happens to your car? If it came to that, I'd settle for an aftermarket, even though that's probably too expensive for them also. Like '99Form says, flat beek hoods are everywhere...

Not at all, it's totally up to the customer. However, depending on the insurance company, they might refuse to pay the difference in price between the OEM and aftermarket part, in which case the customer will have to pay the difference if they want it.
The aftermarket WS6 hoods don't look or fit as well as the OEM ones, IMO.

The best looking aftermarket hood available today, IMO, is the Harwood hood. All of the other hoods are too square towards the cowl, or the nostrils have square cutout openings and just don't look like the WS6 hood is supposed to.

Harwood makes a good product. I have their 2" cowl hood on my Nova, the fit is very nice (not 100% perfect though). The actual hood itself is a very good quality piece, solid construction with no cracks or fractures around the hood pins or even when hit with minor road debris.

Uncle owns a body shop, had an aftermarket ws6 hood on mine for 5 years now, went to order a factory one last month. He's been told by 3 of his GM parts suppliers they're completely out of stock on the ws6 hoods and they won't be available anymore. We were told certain warehouses across the country still have them, but none that we could get in touch with. Apparently GM can only guarantee parts for 7 years or something, idk about everywhere else, but Kentucky is out of them.
