Do It Mang!!! Nothing wrong with the 98's unless your planning to go crazy modded(FI), even then just your tune will be a lil more difficult for some tuners, other than that an LS1 is an LS1....and soforth.....

I'm locking this down before it becomes another "which year is best" battle (this always happens). Take it from a guy that's owned every year of LS1 F-body (other than '01); they all have some positives and negatives over other years equaling each other out. There are no "must have" or "must avoid" years like some people (who haven't even owned all the years) like to think.
