Get rid of my modded lt1 a4 for an ls1 and m6? Or build up my lt1?? Help/ advice?
Hi there, well it's about time to pull my 94 camaro out of storage for the year and i have been looking at getting rid of it for something different possibly. I really wish i had purchased a manual tranny car to begin with as now i believe it would be a lot more fun to drive. I love just cruising with my t-tops out and that's all i use the car for (just playing around) i'm a deisel nut and have a modded lb7 duramax as my daily driver. Although all the mods i have listed on my camaro are done, i feel like it's extremely slow. It's possible that riding in my buddies old cutlass with a cammed 350 crate motor and t56 swap done has just ruined the experiance of driving my car. I also kind of regret not just buying a convertible car for some reason.
If i would just keep my lt1 would it even be worth pulling it out and building the motor and camming it ect. and putting a manual tranny in it? I have about 7 grand in the camaro already, it has 130k miles on it and i think a seal needs changed somewhere because it leaks a tiny bit of oil, but it looks brand new (new corvette paint and vette wheels 2 years ago) I do like the looks of the ls1 style TA but i don't want to spend a ton of cash to get into a TA or go to an ls1, maybe a few grand if i can even get 6k out of my lt1. Also for some reason the lt1 just sounds like a truck with dual exhaust... don't really like it and i would love to have a car with a cammed motor. Not sure if i look into getting a TA or if i need to look for something older with a cammed 350 in it or what to do. Also i have very little experiance driving a manul, i make the car move but it's not very pretty ha.
Just looking for a little advice here guys, any comments would be appreciated.

Well... If you can afford having both why not?
Get a loan through a credit union, interest rate is low and your monthly payment on a 8-9k car (which you should be able to find an nice LS1 for) will be around 150-170 a month....
Do you owe anything on your LT1? Just make the LT1 or the LS1 your project car and have fun with it with no set date that it needs to be done.

I don't owe anything on the car and i have a few grand more to spend. I do not want t finance the car at all. I'm going to feel like an idiot going to test drive one of these m6 cars when i hop in the drivers seat and stall the damn thing out right away! But i think when i can learn how to properly drive it, it should be worth it. Was also interested in C5 vettes but i think they are going to be way too much money right now. The LT1 isn't worth pulling and building up at all?

Sell that camaro and get an ls1. You will get the feel of the manual trans soon enough.. I went from an lt1 to an ls1 and I haven't looked back since. It's nice to actually mod a car and not have to fix it all the time. You will get more bang for your buck, more parts to mod it are available, it's easier to work on. It's just an all around better car.. I'd sell ur current camaro and put that money towards an ls1 car. Because after driving an ls1 car, there's no comparison! In my opinion that is, lol. Goodluck man!

my friend is finishing up his 383 lt1 build this week, and its giong to be pretty nice, but it wont be any kind of numbers a heads/cam ls1 cant get. ****, even on ls6 heads/intake i could make damn near the power he will. his was not an all out build though, still on stock ported lt1 heads. my point is you can make some serious power from the lt1 and having ZERO debt these days is a good thing.

I would defintly get a ls1 i had a 97 ta with full bolt ons and a decent cam 232/236 i think and it only made 335rwhp and i got it runing 12.20s not bad but im at that level with my bolt on ls1 ta. I would save up cash and drop a ls1/t56 in your car sounds like you have money in everything else but the motor so it would kind of suck selling it.

Well OP this is just the same thing that I battled with....I just sold 2 days ago my 95 T/A with 68k miles non-t-top,cloth interior,M6 stock except for !CAT and Magna-flow exhaust for 6K to a friend. It had 17 inch ZR1's with 315/35/17's on the back with 275/45/17's on the front. Wheels and tires had less than 5k miles on them. It was a great car and had ZERO problems out of it...And I am going this coming up week to buy an 02 Z28 with 4:10's,M6, non-t-top, cloth interior,wet-shot by nitrous express, air fuel gage, spec alum fly-wheel,and spec stage2 clutch, with 89k miles on the clock but actual mileage is less due to it not being tuned for the 4:10's and I am only paying 6500 for it. So you can get great deals...And this car has ZR1's as well same size that I had...So good luck getting 6k out of your car...but I would sell it and put that money toward an LS1...you WON'T regret it!!!!!

Ok I really dont think that you know what in the hell that you are talking about. I am buying it from a member of this forum. And no....its not a piece of ****...last time I checked it wasn't absolutely necessary to tune for a 100 shot...its a wet kit...and the only thing that it means with the 4:10's is that the odometer and speedometer is not correct. So whats the huge deal...I will give my address and you start making out the check!

I got over that stage too. I still have a lot of love for the LT1's... But you just cant beat the LS engines.
I sold my 94 Formula about a year ago. I just picked up an 02 SS.. It has the same exact mods as my Formula did, but its a helluva lot faster!
I dont think I could ever go back to just owning a LT1. Wouldnt mind having one to go along with my SS... But I'm hooked on the Camaro soo far!
