Default Dex 3

Correct me if I'm wrong or just an idiot.

But I haven't seen Dex 3 at any of my local auto parts store.. All I've seen is Dex VI or Dex/Merc.. So I'm guessing dex/merc is dex3?? Is that safe to use in my T56? My builder recommended Dex 3 and I wanted to verify that dex/merc is dex3..

Thanks

as far as ATF is concerned, whenever a newer formula comes out, it supercedes the prior. so they start making dexIV and quit making dexIII, but dexIV takes its place. dex/merc is just ATF compatiable with dexron or mercron.

I put Castrol brand Dex/Merc in my t-56 (02 TA) a couple summers ago. Dex/Merc replaces Dexron III.

I have experienced no problems, and the trans did shift noticeably easier/smoother right off the bat.
