you have to pull the heads big pita if its not totally needed i would save lifters for when u do heads
thats what i did and im glad i waited til when i already had the heads off
but yes do a pump and chain also you could even go for a double roller setup if u done wana just do a ls2 chain

Def do the oil pump while your in there. I went with a ported LS6 pump, Ive got about 15,000 miles on it now with no problems. Also used the heavier ls2 timing chain. How many miles on the car? It would also be a good time to do lifters as well since your pulling the intake anyway.

^^Honestly as far as the rockers go, if your just going with a medium size cam, the stockers should be fine. They are easy to do later on, just gotta pull the vavle covers back off, so for now I would invest the money in a GOOD tune instead.

Pulling the heads is really not all that hard, especially if your gonna have everything else out of the way anyway. Hes gonna be hating life 5,000 miles down the road if a lifter goes out and hes gotta pull it all apart again. If the car has more then like 120k miles I would def give it some consideration.
Also, for a smaller to medium size cam, a double roller chain is a waste of money. The LS2 chain will be plenty sufficient.

Alright guys. I'm torn between cams, I need some help choosing a cam. I've been torn between a few but I don't want to buy the wrong one. I know this car will be an ongoing projection so I don't want to buy something too small that I'll have to change out down the road, but also not too big as this car is the daily driver. Can you guys list a few cams that:
Are good for a daily driver, streetable
Make good low end power/torque , this is a street car. I don't want to wait till 4000 rpm to start making power.
Have a decently choppy idle
Thanks.

Yeah the guys at tsp recommended the 228r, and I've heard good things about the torquer v2. I have read a few people say the torquer is too big for a daily driver but other's say it's perfect. Haven't heard any first hand experience on the 228r though. Anyone?

I did, as well as an ls2 timing chain, ls6 intake manifold, ported throttle body.
I decided on the TSP 228R cam package, came with the .650 lift springs and hardened pushrods but got upgraded to .675 for free cause they were out of stock.
