i was jokin around lol that other dude above me posted that only camaros can be z28s.....it was sarcasm really. sorry you dont have a sense of humor. yeah the ss had a better exhaust and the ram air was functional. not much of a difference at all but i think the hood and spoiler are better looking along with better looking stock wheels. the sway bars are slightly larger and in most cases had a power steering cooler. they are for the most part the same car you are right. automatic camaros with stalls are still badass but personally i like rowing gears so 6 speed is my preference. thats not saying anything bad abouts autos other than stock 4l60e's suck even with a bonestock motor. i didnt say i had the fastest car by no means......corvette ls1s came with 345 horse, camaros had 305 in the z28 and about 325-345 on the ss depending on what options you had. so dont get upset its personal preference.

Id say the best chance of low 11's , high 10's would be a properly set up rear
end and suspension. plus donkey kong cam. but w/out sus. your never gunna make it... you know what they say.... you gotta hook to book!
1. a good tunnel mount adj torque.
2. control arms.
3. proper coil springs/shocks.
4. 4.88+ or lower gears w/spool.
5. whinkle wall bias slicks.
6. a great clutch.
7. large max effort cam.
and walla, your doin somethin..... stunna

However if you take this list to heart I would add some heads and a good intake manifold to this list.

Well, I guess in my first hand experiences, in competive racing, and helping out on a few pure street, and wild street cars. its all about hooking up.
suspension set up is crucial, and for sure the only way to go fast. most f-body's arent gunna have a complete full 4 link set up, however. If the car cannot hook up. " you aint doing ****" for lack of better terms. pardon my trailer english..lol.. Im not trying to down play your suggestions funkster,
rather referencing my experience of several high hp cars that have all the means to do well, but cannot hook up. Im sure we can all think of a few turbo or nos cars that have this issue week after week at most drap strips... to run high ten's in a f-body, your gunna have to put it on the limiter and dump it hard.... that type of desired time must launch that style.... with a suto stock fbody, the hp rage in the 420s. you need all the traction possible, hence my previous post................
just my experience. stunna

sure heads and a nice intake are of course a given.

I should probably have worded better as I don't disagree with a lot of it only a few things.
You certainly don't need a spool or that big of a gear to go deep 11s. I also do not neccesarily think you need a Ron Jeremy cam. More like a cam properly designed for the heads and intake setup you would be running.
I just don't want the poster to think he needs a 25x/25x Cam with ridiculous lift when in all reality the heads he buys may flow like garbage up top.

s.s. power in 2002
http://www.automedia.com/2002_Chevro...ts20011201cz/1
z-28 power and also corvette(heres the link scroll down to the year 1998)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrol...rth_generation)
The 305 hp (227 kW) figure for the Z28 was conservative because a realistic rating would have placed the Camaro's power closer to the Corvette's that was rated at 345 hp (257 kW).[6] Minor changes were made to the suspension and the brakes were increased in size. The SS continued for 1998, producing 320 hp (239 kW) Total production for 1998 was just 48,490.
hate to prove you wrong but again. why do you try to bash everything i say....when in fact you are the stupid one. 2001 and 2002 had ls6 intake manifolds from the factory......are you going to dispute that?

Wow lots of info, Well I was wanting to go all motor route just my preference. Would a 383 stroker or 402 408 something be best with cams and heads intake to get to rwhp required for a nice mid 10 pass weekend driver, along with new rear end and some suspension work ?, Trying to stay away from spray as over the long run spraying you might has well has just ponied up the fund to buy the parts. forced induction might be option also.
So far I am leaning towards a 2000 to 2002 camaro possible a t/a just need to find the right car come along at right price.
