x2. Throw a 5.3LSX in an earlier model car and have at it.

I'd love an 87 Z28 with a mild LSX. perfect DD.

I agree. These cars can perform at a supercar level and can be had for low teens these days. Fbodies are cheaper, but the LS6 powered Z06 is a bottom 12/high 11 second car out of the box that handles with the likes of Porsche and Ferrari. Not the cheapest, but I feel the bang for the buck is incredible. They say insurance is also cheaper.

Back a few years when a nice reasonble-mile Fox 5.0 could be had for $3K, I'd tend to dissagree. Now that a clean Fox is $5K+, it is crazy to not buy a LS1 unless you are a die-hard Ford guy.

I've owned two Fox GTs, so I can speak from experience.

I like the way you think. Can't beat the C5Z as an entry-level supercar...

LS1 F-Body = 340ish HP factory, decent handling factory, good braking factory, modern amenities and still doesn't look dated. Plus the aftermarket is ridiculously huge, so the sky is the limit for performance. All for under $10K? Nothing else is close...

Don't forget T-TOPS!

Not only do 4th gens not look dated, if you didn't know any better you might think they're brand new (until you see the interior). The 4th gen Camaro in my book will always be one of the best looking cars ever.

It seems to be becoming pretty popular what about the fox body mustangs with lq4 and such swaps. Plus all the other parts for the car are cheap because they were so damn popular

C5 corvette, especially z06 (but may not apply to everyone's budget).

For bargain I really dont think theres any competition for 98-02 f body. They are light, on the cheaper side, they are just awesome.

Yep. Seeing lots of Fox-body LSx swaps. Light, cheap, 8.8 rear and huge aftermarket from both sides, so win/win. However, the Foxes look dated, have a marginal (at best) interior, start with 4-lugs and rear drums, use Quarda-shock out back and nice examples are becoming rare/costly.

Even with the 7.5 10-bolt, I think LS1 F-bodys are currently the best performance bargain out there. C5s aren't that far behind if the initial buy-in price is less of a factor.
