4th gen F-Body WITHOUT T-Tops..

On the particular occasion I referred to in my last post, the road I was on wasn't ideal to be going that fast for a very long period of time. And my decision to give it some throttle was definitely a "spur-of-the-moment" type of situation. If I had planned to see what kind of speed I could get out of the car on this stretch of road, I'm sure I could easily best my standing record.
The Pedometer is a great idea, man! Be sure to post up with the results. Be sure you aren't gonna get in trouble, but most importantly, BE CAREFUL!!

I'm simply sporting the mods in my signature. I'd happy if I was putting 325hp to the wheels, but I've never had it on a Dyno so I have no idea where I'm actually at.

No trouble yet, got lots of empty country roads around me. I use the Pedometer to speed test my RC stuff, just thought of trying it in the car. I will let you know. I already use a GPS speedo in the car for accuracy. You need to find a nice flat strait stretch of road to open it up like that, no fun hitting pot holes over 100mph.

So a GPS? Not quite the same as a pedometer, which just counts your steps.
Not trying to be an ***, I was just confused that you tracked your speed at 150 mph with something that counts to see how far you walk/run

I have a couple hardtop Camaros and a couple t-top ones. If they were all hardtops that would be absolutely fine with me. I like the cleaner look, slightly less weight, slightly more structural rigidity, and no leaks with hardtops. I very rarely bother to remove the tops in my t-tops cars. I also feel t-tops play into the negative stereotypes associated with F-bodies. I picture stupid high school kids (or people with the maturity level of high school) out cruising around with tops off, blasting their music and trying to impress "chicks". Or, trailer park women with big 80's hair cruising around and smoking a cigarette while driving with the t-tops off. I've seen too many people that use t-tops as a "show off mod" and sorry but I wasn't impressed.
But that's just me. I'm more of a performance enthusiast and like the slightly more "purity" of a hardtop. Yes, I know t-top cars have gone 7's, but if I was starting with a hardcore build... it would be a hardtop.
Every once in a while, if the weather is gorgeous and maybe if I'm going on a cruise out in the Hill Country, then I'll pull the t-tops off. But mostly I could care less if they were there.

Acceleration is awesome, but speed is such a trip.

Ok, the GPS speedo I use, well actually I have 2, my Clarion Nav headunit will display speed. But mainly I use a Escort 9500ix radar detector with built in GPS and a 100% accurate speedo, it is right in the center of my windshield so even at 150, you know how fast you are going, trust me, it is very hard to look down at your speedo at these speeds.
Look up the GARMIN Forerunner 201 and you will see how it works.

Well put, and the TP women, LMAO... I have always convertible and T-Topps just make the car look like it is missing parts. Dont know why but I have had this opinion since I was a kid.

Sorry for the confusion, let me explain. The Pedometer, or Garmin Forerunner will record top speed and how long it took to get there, I used it for my RC stuff to see what top speed was, this one doesn't exactly record steps, but rather speed and time. I have used it in my truck and uit showed us going 115mph, strange it does what it does because no one could walk or run that fast, lol.

BTW, I know looking at the speedo is difficult at those speeds. I am an fbody owner too
Anyways, I guess I shouldn't have gotten off topic It was more of a funny observation, lol

I did look it up after you mentioned it, it's a runner's GPS, I know what you mean now. This is what I think of when I hear pedometer

mine are BMR weld in sub frame connectors. you can get bolt in type. do a search, there are a lot of regestered venders that sell them. also get lower control arms and panard bar too.

You can get bolt in sets from BMR or UMI or many other places. They are very easy to install, should take less than an hour, especially if you are doing LCA's to.

TRANS-AM's from 1998-2002 . . . They ALL have T-TOPS . . . If you want a HARDTOP Firebird, you either have to buy a FORMULA or a 6-CYLINDER car to get away from T-TOPS.
CAMARO's are a different story, as HARDTOPS are available in ALL models.
Personally, I don't like T-TOPS, although I have owned 3 F-Bodies that had them ( 1979 T/A, 1982 T/A, 1989 IROC ) . . . No, I have never had a MULLET . . . LOL !

I had a guy look at my car the other day and say "Wow, clean car. Too bad it doesn't have T-Tops."
I just don't understand why someone WOULDN'T want their modern muscle car to be a hardtop. I, personally, have no desire to own anything but a hardtop car, ever.
