Default Please help

Ihave a 98 camaro 6 speed manual, the problem im having is once i start the car up it revs up to 2500 to 3000 rpm for like 5 secs n dies.If i press the gas it stays running but goes up to 2500 to 3000 rpm. While the car is running the headers turn red hot on both sides of the engine.Change the maf sensor n still doing the same thing.Checked the fuel pressure its steady at 58psi.Any suggestions on what the problem may be will be well appreciated.Thanks.

Couldnt figure out why rpms was at 2500 at start up and why headers were turning cherry red, finally got a chance to take it to a shop in auburn,wa.blood enterprises. After 3 hours of troubleshooting narrowed it down to a vacuum leak inside the engine.Pull the driver side valve cover to find out that the very front rocker arm had completely snapped away from the head.Luckily there were no other internal damage done n the push rod was not bent.James who is a very knowledgeable mechanic said the walls of the heads was probably ported too thin thats why the rocker arm snapped away from the head.He said i should go with an aftermarket head like afr or edelbrock cause they are more thicker than the cnc ported ls6 heads.Pics are below of the rocker arm that seperated from the head.

Yeah, that's crazy! High revs usually point to a vacuum leak, but I wasn't expecting that.

Look at the bright side- time for a sweet upgrade!
