Default Center Console Question

I am planning on installing an led switch plate in the ashtray area of my 2002 WS6 TA with an automatic transmission. When I remove the ashtray, I see some wiring and what appears to be a black plastic tube that runs from the rear of the console to the front. What is this? Is it fixed, or does it move back and forth? My concern is that some of my wiring may wind up resting on it. Thanks.

It isn't the wiring that I have a question about. It is the black plastic looking tube that runs underneath the ashtray. Unfortunately, I can't take a picture of it because I have already put the switchplate in.

And what harm is wiring resting on a black plastic tube going to do?
My opinion, ..., don't worry about it.

How large is this 'tube'?
Hard, or soft & hollow?
Only thing I can think of that would loook like a black plastic tube would be the shift cable.

Agreed. If you are really concerned, just take it back off and zip-tie the wire to something (like another wire that you know is stationary) or tape it to the inside of your console.

If your very conerned about it, just take your whole center console out and see exactly what it is. It's just a few bolts. No big deal.
