storing an assembled short block??
i was trying to rush my build before i deployed again, but after thinking, i figured i need to take a few step back and not rush things, do them right and end up happier in the long run..
soo.. i have my freshly assembled forged short block that i need to store for about a year.. what do i need to do to ensure that its 100% ready to go once i get back and finish things up??
oil the bore walls and bag it??
help me out guys.!!
thanks travis

i would say if you have any plastic wrap, wrap that bitch up... the more the better. and tuck it away in a safe place, away from mice and crap. i would'nt put rags in the bores, moisture might get in there and make a mess. but slapping some oil in there i dont think would hurt it.

oil everything good.
put it in an engine bag, (Jegs or Summit has them for cheap) and if you can, have someone go out and turn it over every few weeks to a month (depending on how moist the air is where it is stored) and re oil the bores and crankcase. thats the best way.
if you cant get someone to help you out, just wrap it up tight and store it somewhere very dry.

you need to coat every bare metal suface with fresh oil, doesnt have to be anything fancy just new oil, then bag it to keep the dust/dirt out,and if youre married i would even try to sneak it in the house when shes gone and tuck it away somewhere, ive left mine in the garage and its already nasty from dust and humidity from the dryer being in there
