Hi everyone, i'm Cmmv and recently i introduce my self in the post of Introduction in which i mentioned that i've had a lot of doubts in which respect of LS Engines. I have in mind a swap project, in this one i would like to use the LS2 Engine. Unfortunately this engine it's not available here in Venezuela (at least not that I know). But the engine that is available its the 5.3 and comes with Silverado and TrailBlazers trucks. Now i have ask and some friends told me that 5.3 it's in fact an LS engine.
Now I've been reading some post in this forum about the 5.3. One of my questions was if its possible to do a kind of stroke in this engine, putting some pistons of the LS2 in this block or something like that. I found in this that it's possible to do but with the pistons of the LS1, but in the case i let this question open to know what its your opinion about this.
And now the other part. What parts and accesories can put to the 5.3 Block, besides to put some Vette heads?
And what profit you can take from the 5.3 Engine doing the respective modifications?
Well thanks in advance for your answers, and i hope that this thread be productive for all of us.
Best regards

I believe the iron block 5.3 can be bored from 3.78 to 3.9 for LS1 pistons
and a final size of 346 cubes, but can not go to 4.0 of the LS2 (364 CID)
You could possibly fit a 4" stroker assembly in it after boring it out .120
and have a 383 incher which several people on here really like for both
torque and horsepower....but that all gets expensive (budget ??)
A few months ago Car Craft mag put a cam and Trick Flow heads on a 5.3
and made like 450 hp then put on a 76mm E-Bay turbo (blo-thru carb) and
ended up @ like 625 hp with 93 octane and 10lbs of boost. In today's
market your possibilities are unlimited and the 5.3 responds well like any
LS engine except it starts with only 325 inches....Good Luck

And what do you think about doing some stroke to the 5.3? If would be the best keep it stock or puting a LS1 piston to get more hp?
Thanks in advance for your answers and for the help of course
