The past 3 tank fulls i've averaged 18.5mpg. That's the highest I've been since my V6. It's almost all highway though. I normally average 15.5 around town. When I did the math and saw the 18+ mpg I was majorly surprised.

FWIW: I've been doing this whole shifting below 2K RPM thing and wow what a difference in MPG. I went from averaging around 14.5 to over 18.5 MPG combined. Same routes I take every week, same times of day, same gas station, same traffic, etc.
I went from just under 200 miles 'til indicated E to around 240-260 miles 'til indicated E.

Bone Stock A4 2.73 gears. When I purchased the car, I got 28.9MPG on the return trip from Detroit MI to North Central Ohio. That was 90% Highway driving with the cruise set at 75mph.

Just filled up yesterday... went a little under 280 miles, and it took 12 gallons to fill it up.
Averaged 23.19mpg.
A4, 2.73's. That was my normal weekly commute, about 60-70% highway, most of the rest rural roads at about 40mph, and about 5% actually "city".
A few weeks ago I filled up at the gas station next to where I work before heading home, then the next afternoonI filled it up again before heading home. I got 26.1 that tank, it was solely my round trip to work.
It's driving around town on the weekends that brings my mileage down, most tanks I've been getting between 21 and 22. This past week I parked the car just about all weekend, hence my slightly better mpg for that week.

I havent clocked my hwy mpg's. City is this: 30 mile round trip to work with 16 stop lights (one way). All under 60 mph. A4/2.73's I get 21/22 mpg @ 300-320 miles per tank.
Thats 90% conservative driving...10% having fun

M6 100% highway with cruise set at 75mph I average 27-28mpg with mods in my signature with stock tune. 100% city driving I get around 18mpg. Combined I average 21-23mpg, depending on the city vs highway bias.

Man you guys either have some tuning to do, or some faulty OEM equipment or very very heavy right foots.
I get 16-18mpg in town and 20-23mpg on the highway, and I only have 4 gears(OD at least) and 3.55's with 600rwhp. Something isn't right here, or you guys need to quit racing all those civics, we know our cars our faster, just don't prove it at every stop light you come too![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
I hardly ever calculate my mileage anymore unless I'm going on a trip somewhere that involves a distance then I try to see if I can beat my previous bests in mpg.

On my recent trip to the Outer Banks, driving around the OBX, then back via Virginia Beach and Ocean City, MD, I was averaging 22-27 MPG per tank, getting around 300-400+ miles out of a tank. AC blasting, shifting below 2K RPM, windows up. A few runs here and there but nothing hardcore. These are great highway cars. I threw a pillow behind me to help my back support and we drove 450 miles straight from Horsham, PA to Buxton, NC on Hatteras Island with only a couple stops. My g/f and I were very comfy the whole ride.

15 MPG with bad knock sensors-went up to 18-19 after replacement. Very mild driving most of the time because the engine is cold. Occasional WOT when hot. City only. Shift point at 1500-2000 RPM, attempt to keep RPM under 1500 during cruise. Stock 3.42 M6, weight reduction, Lid, free ram, Borla catback. Known massive carbon build-up internally. Tire pressures 30 or so psi, 275/40-17. Fairly warm most of the time here. Noticeable power gain, but unknown MPG since it started cooling off.

My 2005 M3 Vert with SMG also gets 19-21 mpg.
My LS2 402 98 1LE with M6 gets a bit less. <g>
But I guess that is what happens when you compare 333 flywheel hp with 500 rwhp.
Don't get me wrong, I love the M3 but the FBody is a beast.
