I had an 02 Firehawk, 6 speed that got 31mpg on the highway driving from Louisiana to Cali.

After headers, highway dropped to around 29mpg..

city either way was around 17-19, depending on how heavy my foot was.. haha

I went from Fresno to Sacramento (180mi) on half a tank of gas. I thought that was pretty good.

18-20 is normal for driving legal in town, and 28 on the highway, for an M6 LS1 F-body. I hypermiled a 98 to 34.
Raw data

I had a lower mile (42k when I bought it) E36 M3, and it was not as fuel efficient as an LS1 F-body.
Raw data

I'll be making a 600 mile round trip road trip to NH and back tomorrow. We'll see what I average. Running straight fuel for the tank up there, no ethanol.

That's crazy!
I am going to pick up an 01 or 02 TA in the next few weeks to drive in the summer, if I could get over 20 on the highway with full bolt ons and a gear, I would be thrilled.
Then I can park my 06 F350 and just use it to tow the race car trailer!

I know these aren't supposed to be economical vehicles, however it is cool to know you can have a 400rwhp Trans Am and if you drive it nice it don't do too bad on fuel..

I have a '65 GTO that gets probably 5mpg, I have my diesel dually that get's like 15mpg, I just want a cool DD that can get decent mileage and still run 12's..

The best I've gotten so far was 26mpg on the highway with a a4,3600 stall, and 3.73 gears. I was pretty pumped!

Was that with a cam and stuff? What kinda hp was it making then?
That's what interests me more, is how far can it get pushed before you fall off that 20mpg cliff?

Will a stock bottom end turbo combo that makes 600rwhp, still be able to be run on pump gas at low boost and get 20+?
Will a cam only car making 400+ still get 20+?

Yea, everything in my sig was on the car. I did baby it pretty good but I made a couple hour drive one way and back not to long ago cruising 80-85mph. When I got home I filled it back up and did the math, it was like 19.8mpg.

i have asked people that claim they get 30 mpg to stepup & fill your tank & post milage here, then drive around , empty the tank and refill at the same station & same pump. then post milage & gallons to fill (pref photo of receipt) NOBODY has ever stepped up to prove it. nuff said.

As I said... on the highway. If you add in the in town driving, it is usually around 21-22. Its not often that I go through an entire tank from highway driving, but the few times that I have, I did exactly what you said, and it has yielded between 27-30 mpg.

30 is about as high as I can really believe, and thats got to be an M6 car.

I have a TR224, M6 and a 3:23 rear end and got 29 while driving like an old man.

Because my drive is usually very short, I usually get 15-18 MPG. Car spends more time warming up than it does be driven some days.

My hotcam'd LT1 M6 car got a high of 26.5 on a trip to the UP last year, I was pretty impressed with that.

Lolol. I used to get 30+ on a weekly basis when I was in college. Even hyper milled a 35 mpg tank out of the car once in perfect conditions. And that is in my A4 car. You're entitled to be a little skeptical, but let's not be ignorant enough to pretend like it doesn't happen simply because you haven't seen it for yourself. I'd say most people here, including myself, care so little about proving their mpg that they'd rather you just not believe them than actually take the time to sit down and post it. Besides, my car only takes me to and from work now. It gets low 20s in those conditions.
