More $ into my 98 or a 11 SS?
I just seen one sitting in front of my hotel and came to a point where I really like it. It never grew on me until now.
I love my 98, and I wanted to do a fresh drive train(build the long block, get a beefy AT and 12 bolt). I am expecting a total cost of around to be right under 10k over a bit of time.
But, I can keep my cash and get a SS in a few years or so.
What you all think?

Would either of these cars be your daily driver (the built '98 OR or the '11 SS)?
If not, I'd keep the '98 and do what you want with it. I'm assuming it's paid off and in good cosmetic condition, and as such, for a weekend toy I think the built 4th gen would be much more fun.
On the other hand, heavily modified older cars usually don't make the most reliable or pratical daily drivers, so from that perspective you might like the warranty/newness aspect of the 5th gen.
On a personal note, there are many other cars I'd rather have than a 5th gen for a toy (a 4th gen being one). But I think they make nice daily drivers, and that's about all I'd ever buy one for.

I thought about selling my 02' sooo many times for a '10 or '11 camaro. I came real close once, They were going to give me 10K for my camaro(02 with 64K) but it was a brand new 11' SS and the payments were going to be 500 + a month! I was like, HELL NO. My car is just about payed off, and I couldnt think of paying that for 5 years....

It really depends on the condition of the car. Is it shot or really nice still? Nothing worse than throwing out a huge amount of $$ into a car that won't last 2 or 3 years. $10,000 is close to $200 per month for 4 years. That's a big commitment for a 13 year old car so it better be nice to start with. If it is, it certainly is much cheaper than a new car payment. Only you know.

Even though the 5th gens are much more refined, newer, better built, etc., F-body's are timeless cars man, I don't think they'll ever go out of style, keep that thing and put some more money into it. I would never trade mines in on any of the current pony cars that are available. All of them are fantastic, but man, I just wouldn't be willing to give up my F-Body for any of them.

I dont think the SS' are impressive at all and if I was a betting man... Id put my money on GM upping their game in the next couple years. As long as your happy with what you drive now, id keep it alive, maybe do a couple small mods to keep the smile on your face and see if anything better comes along. And put the rest away till you find something you cant live without, keep saving and maybe you can do a killer down payment.
I just dont think your at that point with the 11 camaros, or this post would have been, "Check out my new ride!"

Exactly! Keep the 98 and put the 10k in it and make it run 10s or 11s easily.
If you have to have a brand new car out of the 11 models I would definatly look at the new 5.0 Mustang. Under 30k and just a absolutely beast of a car.
Personally I would keep the 98.

Do you want a new car?
Can you afford the payment?
Getting tired of your 4th Gen?
Is it going to be your daily driver?
Most replies will tell you to keep the 98 because a good amount of ppl on here dont really like the new 5th Gen Camaro's.
I assume the 98's paid off since your not mentioning anything about trading it in for the 11'ss. So if you can afford the payment and its going to be your daily driver. I say go for it. You can always save money here & there to put towards mods for the 98. If you cant afford the payment, then just keep on modding the 98.
I would consider a 2010 model as well, nothing really changed between the 10' & 11' models. You can still find some new 2010's on the lots and they should be cheaper then 11' models.
