Tough call. For the Camaro, it's a close call between the first gen (specifically a 68 RS/SS), and the split bumper 2nd gens.
With the T/A, I'd have to say the early 2nd gen 455 SD's are my fave, followed by of course the Bandit T/A's, and then the '89 TTA.
One thing about hte 2nd gens...other than the declining HP over the run, I really like the early 70-73 cars becasue they had the flat rear window. Not a big fan of the wraparound glass. (Same thing with C3 Vettes).
And I can't believe the majority is going for the 4th gens. Yeah, it's what most of have and they're cool, but come on, doesn't anyone appreciate the CLASSICS anymore??

Interesting poll results. Most are partial to the 4th gen, since most of us own one of those. I see a good number of classic lovers. But so far, no one, not a single vote towards the 5th generation!
As true as it is that the 5th generation is too large, too heavy, overpriced, and gets WORSE fuel economy than the 14 year old LS1 powerplant, I still love the looks of the new Camaros, the interior is vastly improved, so many more options, runs a much smoother suspension. It's just a VERY eye catching car, in stock form. The 4th generations, you needed to add some options to make them look sharp, ground effects, hood scoop, stripes, premium wheels, good color, etc.
That being said, I still prefer the LS1 to the LS3/L99. The LS1 sounds so much better, at this point in the modding game the LS1 has so much more potential, and it's more fuel efficient. Still, if I had the means to buy a new Camaro SS, I would do so in a heart beat.

My vote goes to 3rd gens. Excellent handling in stock form, great mix of technology and ease of working on, lots of power options available, and just simple yet sleek lines. Plus I love how the 3rd gens had thier own unique interior while 4th gens just look too similiar to sunfires and cavaliers. Only downfall to the third gens was lack of HP....easy enough to remedy though. Heres my baby...

And my brothers 91 bird which had thier own unique look as well...

I know what you mean about that generation. If I had to own an older Camaro/Firebird it'd be like the '72/'73 (not sure what year) Camaro they had in the movie Gumball Rally-it was yellow, with the split bumper and had just the right kind of body/ground effects, aftermarket wheels, etc. Love that car...

1989 Trans Am GTA black with Gold wheels and a Blown LS7 poking thru the hood like the stormtrooper car from Hawks Third Gen. Until you see that car in person you will not know what I speak of. So clean and simple yet screams vintage/modern muscle all in one.
4th gen is my favorite body style/design. I only like the GTA's in the 3rd gen line-up.
A WS6 or SS just reminds me of pure sex.

i can't really choose between any of them, i absolutely love 67/68 400, 4 speed birds, the 455 Super Duty Trans ams and 70-73 Formulas, GTA's and TTA's, lt1 formulas and ls1 ws6 cars. so can i just vote for all the firebirds?

Ha, I agree, not just cars, but everything is basically a lot more expensive in our current times versus back when 4th gens were being sold new anyways.

I had my car parked next to a Cavalier one day and the same unsettling feeling came over me. The Cavalier is like a mini Camaro...they look very similar, just as the Sunfire looks very similar to a Trans Am, just smaller. I hate that, hate that they built two cars to look like smaller counter parts of the muscle cars.
