that is the lowest insurance I've ever heard of.
not sure how much the car your looking for is but either a personal loan, secured or unsecured, or credit card offers with interest free for xx months. Just make sure you pay it off before the promotion expires or interest will kick in and usually at a much higher rate.

I just bought my 2001 SS and financed through my credit union. They only do "auto loans" for vehicles up to 10 years old, so I just made it with my '01. Beyond that they will do a personal loan which has different terms but is basically just higher interest rates and up to 4 years. Each lender is different, though.

I bought my first Camaro at 19, 2000 SS, insurance was $65 a month full coverage USAA.. no tickets or anything before though.
I'm 23 now and married and have 2 cars and insurance is $119 a month for both full coverage.. Geico.. 2 wreckless driving tickets and speeding. Somehow none of it hit the insurance lmao.

In February of 2010 I bought my SS with 14k on it. I refinanced through my credit union and brought my interest rate from 8.9% to 4.49%. I have about $1100 left to pay and it will be mine by Thanksgiving.
My insurance for my Dakota and SS are $153/month still under my folks. My bike is only $26/month for liability only under only me. I'm 21 and have 1 speeding ticket on my record from December of 2008.

Update. Mom went by the union and applied for a loan, they said they might be able to do the 2000 camaro pending miles but more than likely ill end up with a goat. and my mom will put her as the driver no problem. shes good about that stuff. Should Hear back pretty soon for the loan outcome.

At age 20, I don't think I would want to have a car payment on a 10+ year old car. But that's just me. I saved up and got one at age 27. Making payments on a car that old makes me ill. Save up, and have no car payments!
Getting a car payment at your age will likely make you a candidate of paying car payments your entire life!
My wife and I own 3 cars, no car payment, and it leaves a LOT left each month and we are only 29 and 30 years old. SAVE vs. SPEND. It will make a HUGE difference over the course of a lifetime.

I get what you're saying about payments at my age but i go to an electrical school and will be going back to college next semester. I have a truck that has a bad week about once a month with almost 200,000 miles. It's either keep dumping cash into the truck or buy something more reliable.

IDK how your insurance works but even if the car is in your moms name if your are primary driver on the car they will probable calculate insurance rates basically the same as if you were to have your own policy. Now granite most companies give multi car discounts or discounts for having multiple types of insurance with them but it will probable still be fairly high. The only real way around it is if your mom is listed as primary driver on the F body or GTO and you are primary driver on her car (assuming its not sporty). It's not really legal but as long as you don't get a lot of tickets the insurance really has no way of knowing.

1st. Dont finance a 10 year old car for 12.5k. When I was 21 no credit, living at home with mom, no responsibility I thought about same thing. I was making bout 800 a week take home. Finance company wanted like 5k down and 3 something a month but would do a new civic for 1k down and 2something a month. I said f that and saved for a couple months and came across a 98z with 88k in 08, private sale guy wanted 8k gave him 6500 cash. So really I only paid 1500 over the inital down payment quote I was getting. If you get personal loan you can end up buying car outright for a lot less than car loan payments would total. 2nd. Geico full coverage, wheels, sounds, and anything else is covered. Free 30 day car rental during a claim up $50daily, uninsured motorist, absolutely everything. For $209 monthly, maybe a little high but I had 4 suspensions, all of them failures to appear on sound amplification tickets. Best thing about it is if something happens to your car the adjuster cuts you a check on site, the same day you have car checked out. No waiting. And you can go to whatever bodyshop you want, and if they need more money than the check was for they just contact insurance and they cut more directly to them. Best.ever
