Default need help choosing a engine

Hi all im not a frequent user here but all the shops here in australia are a bit behind amreica as we only have the ls3 in production here.

All right i own a commodore it's a buick v6 powerd im considering buying a ss commodore with a ls1 or converting my current car.

Now i have played around with my car and found out that to get any seirous power on my budjet ill have to take the car off the road again for a considerable amount of time or build the engine on a stand.

Im going for the engine on stand idea.

Ive done some reserch and found that here a ls3 complete will sell for about$9000aud that is a stock replacement.

But i want a 416ci stroker i have seen short blocks in america for about $6000usd and the stroker kits here alone are about that price.

Is it worth buying overseas and dose any one know the shipping costs to get a tall block back here to australia.

Secondly is there any advantage of going ls3 stroker over ls1 stroker.

Also i have seen here on the forum that there are ls7 heads for the ls3 is this an advantage over heavily modified aftermarket ls1 heads on a ls1.

i really want to know if it is cheaper to buy a ls3 with ls7 spec heads over a ls1 setup

thx guys

Also if any one has an idea on how to build the cheapest 416ci stroker please post the specs and brands power is not a concern because the most tame 416 will have plenty for me.
but i dont mind extra power

Its cheaper to buy a lq9(370c.i. 6.0 iron block truck engine) short block and some l92 heads(good flowing heads) than buying a ls3 ... Youll probably spend about 800 on short block and 600-800 on heads if your on budget

Just search for stroker kit for lq or a l92 block is also a good choice

Ok well i just had a look on ebay and australia has no lq9's as we dont have many imports here of gm trucks. I searched ebay usa and found the average price to be $2000 for a second hand complete engine. The ls1 readly avaliable here go's for about $2500aud so unless the shiping is less than $500 i guess ill be using ls1.

If i was to go ls1 what would be the best option for stroking and heads do the l92 heads fit the ls1 we have plenty of l92's here.

Or do the ls3 heads fit the ls1 as far as ive heard the ls3 heads dont fit is this true.

and am i asumming corect if the lq9 can be stroked to 416 the ls1 can aswell as i read the lq9 is the same except that it is iron

edit: sorry just did some reaserch the l92 is not common here it is the l98
