Stock...that should not be the case. The curb weights of the fbodies is higher even tho the power is roughly the same. That being said, the same driver on the same track, the vettes should still be slightly ahead. Of course we are not considering the z06 in the equation, because it is rated at ~50hp higher than the rest and is capable of running 12.5's stock.

idk about beating but they'd prob. launch better than the vettes due to SRA

shoot ive heard of people running 11.7x 11.8x stock in a c5z, that is moving for a stock car. ive seen many people in the 12.2's - 12.5's too which is still very respectable

With those times most likely they had drag radials. There is only so much you can get out of stock runflats.

When my 98 had a loudmouth and lid I outrun 3 stock c5 Corvettes, pulled 1-2 lengths on each of them.

They run very similar times.. fbody having slight better 60 and vettes having slightly more mph.

I have posted this before but honestly c6>c5z IMO ive tested both. They really nailed the driving manerisims with the c6.. Is the c5z06 faster? Sure by a hair but 6.0>5.7 ...

Jussayin and if you get an ls3 c6.."which i haven test driven yet" ls3>ls6.. Jussayin again..

I had a completely different experience when i was looking at c6 coupes. I had just sold my 98 coupe and was looking to upgrade to a c6. After test driving several c6 coupes (couldn't afford z06) I found them lazy and fat compared to the c5. They also seemed to not have the same tactile feel that i had before plus the stock clutch i really disliked. In the end i went with a cammed c5 z06 instead, which really does feel like your driving a sports car. In my opinion the follow is true:

c6z06>c5z06>c6z51

I think it's safe to say go z06 or go home

Buy a base C6... You have the lowest model offered, grand sports C6Z and Zr1 all above your model. Not to mention a base C6 next to a Z/etc looks very plain.

Buyer a C5Z.. You have the best model offered for those years and looks way better than a coupe.

To me, that matters. I would take a C5Z over all of them except the C6Z.

When my Z06 was stock, I beat a bolt-on 2010 SS pretty bad on a 40 roll.

Thats why I bought my C5 Z. I thought the base model C6's were just too plain, even though the LS3's are better performing cars stock. It was just another "dime-a-dozen" corvette.

The new Camaro weighs a good 650lbs more than the c5z and even with some engine work they have trouble closing that gap. The c5z was and still is a great machine.

Form<function. Although I still love all C5's/z's. If i wanted a car that felt like a hot rod I would drive my Trans Am. I really wanted somthing more refined which the c6 had. Add in the selectable magnetic ride control, and im sold.

The c5's deffinatly have that go cart feel though and I did like that but honestly c5/c6 are two differant machines. And maybe im the only one who prefers the sleek lines of c6 more then the c5...

Somtimes less is more!!

I guess I'll be the different one here, I'd much rather have a C6 Z51 over a C5 Z. I think it's a much nicer car, my Dad has a bolt-on 6 speed '07 Z51 and I love that thing. Performance wise, they are a toss up really, it all boils down to preference. Both are sweet cars, can't really go wrong with either.
