Vette Upgrades....
I want do some minor bolt on upgrades for my stock 99 Vette. What are some inexpensive mods that will have the most effect with out tuning. Tuning will come in the future after a cam and valve spring change.

Those are planned in the future... right now I need to get this turbo engine in the chevelle. Long tubes are a bit pricey, have found cheap ls6 intakes though. was thinking about a pulley or a MAF( do I need to tune for a MAF).

I had a 99 with Doug rippie long tubes & 150 nos. Went 12.1 @ 119 on street radials ( no traction).
Actually, still have Headers & was going to sell them (Cheap). Airborne coated.

Don't waste your time with a MAF. You aren't anywhere near making your stock MAF a restriction. My 99 FRC runs 10.80s@128mph NA through a stock MAF. What the guys have suggested above (headers, LS6 intake) will wake the car up quite a bit. Get on corvette forum and pick up a used Vararam cold air intake. It is the best CAI you can buy for the C5. If you want to start drag racing the car I would HIGHLY recommend you spend a little bit of money on the rear differential. The stock short side stub axle is VERY weak. Your car being a stick is going to put a beating on it. I would replace it with a C6 Z06 short axle it will also require changing the side spider gear. Also look at the ECS differential braces. Your 99 has the weakest C5 differential case that was made so you could easially break the differential without one.
In the picture below you can see the difference between the early and late C5 differential cases. The broken one on the left is an early unit aka a "single rib" and the one on the right with more ribbing on the top is what is commonly known as a "3 rib" differential case.
This is what the ECS differential brace looks like once it is installed. It prevents the differential from rotating up and breaking itself off of the back of the transmission.

WOW!!! I had no idea that could happen. How much are those braces, looks like a good investment. I am not gonna drag race the car, I just wanna play with it a little. I have the Chevelle I'm gonna drag. I will however be calling you for some up grades to the 700r4... Have most of them already done but I need the upgraded sprags and band. I'm working on that before I do anything to the Vette.
