Sadly, not where I'm from. They're pretty much dead on price wise around here. 
Went to the public auto auction in Nashville a few weeks ago. Had a 97 v6 bird in white. Busted quarters, no t-tops, unknown mileage, no front end, headlights didn't work, interior torn to hell....it brought $2300. Used market is insane right now for cars...

auctions are the old way to find deals , now its just a lazy way to shop.
the internet is powerful between craigs list and specialized forums for sale sections ( like this one/ls1 tech) you should be able to find yourself a deal
I have gotten some stupid good deals you just need to be ready to act quickly and have cash in hand when the deals show up....
