Many more stock aluminum driveshafts get tore up like Coke cans by M6 cars on hard launches/hard shifts as well.
I've seen A4s with stock rears and stock driveshafts run 10s, pass after pass without issues. And then you have some M6s that will bust the rear on a simple 12 second pass on sticky tires.
The 7.5" can live a very long life behind an A4, even at greatly increased power levels, so long as you can avoid wheel hop.

^^ this ^^
The original 10 bolt in my '94 Z28 A4 held up for years of mid 12 sec passes (remember this was an LT1, so mid 12's were respectable back then )
My '98 has a stock alum DS with beefed up yoke and rear U-joint (going to a Moser 9") and it's run a good number of high 10's with the previous owner and a handful of 10.7-10.8 's with me and it's still in one piece. The '98 has an RPM level 5 4L60E and I couldn't see the DS lasting long at all if the car was M6.

The worst thing about my car currently is the rock chips in the paint, which have spread a bit (more like rock gashes at this point). I plan on getting the front touched up at some point, but I had to get my truck running reliably first.
Beyond that, I love my car. I love the color, even though most people hate the pewter metallic. I love the factory ground kit, even though that isn't too popular around here either. I still need to install my headers, catback, and intake, but I love my car.

Here it is. This was about 90 seconds of work, and my hatch release, from inside or the key fob, works the first time, every time.

No! Don't go buying new struts for your hatch. That isn't the problem. When you hit the button, it trips a motor that allows a spring to release your hatch. That spring, even when the cars were new, is just too weak. You can place another spring in a "piggyback" position over that one and it works just fine. I'll put a link to the tutorial if I can find it.

Those fender tabs that every tire jockey on the planet thinks is a jacking point. It's gotten to the point where I get new tires mounted with the wheels off the car and put them back on myself. Fender tabs bent/broken too many times. Really Chevy? And of course they took away those backer pieces in 2001 to save money and weight. I just don't get it.

Those were no longer used starting in 1999.
