Stock you should easily average 20 city 25+ highway with a stock 3.42 six speed car. My car with a cam, bolt ons and 4.10s 6 speed WS6 got 27mpg's on a 850 mile trip with just a base tune.

I have an LS1 in a 56 Chevy Convertible. Stock, other than headers. 3:55 rear end: heavy car. 4L60e tranny.

Best on highway mileage for me has been 22.5. I usually get 20.5-21.2.

Get about 17-18 in the city.

Have considered moving to a 3:08 rear end, but don't know how much difference it would make.

I've got a best of 29.5 on the highway. Would of been better, but I bumped it up to 120 passing someone. I can't say I've ever driven it straight city, but I used to have a 50 mile trip to work, and it was about 45% roads of 55 mph, 45% of roads 65 mph, and 10% of roads at 35-45 mph. In those conditions I was getting 24-26 mpg.

Then I bought a cheap Buick Lesabre as a DD and it got the same mileage in those conditions. I always thought that was pretty neat.

I get about 22 MPG and its 32 miles from my drive way to Work and my car is my dd.

LQ4 M6 Long Tubes. Im sure my gas mileage could be better if i took it to someone to get it tuned.

I don't think the 3.08's will help at all. Your car just isn't as aerodynamic as a vette or fbody. And depending on what size tire your running, maybe the 3.55's aren't low enough.

'99 Z28 M6 for me ... just turned 229K miles the other day.

I've kept track of every gallon of gas and my mileage at fill up for years. I keep a small bank calendar book in my glove box and write everything down.

I consistently average 26.5 mpg in this car. My commute is 58.5 miles each way, for a round trip of 117 miles. Most of that is on fourlane highway at 65 mph average.

The car is stock except for a Flowmaster muffler.

I didnt buy my car for mpg's but when i went on the Power Tour this year i watched it and i got between 24-26 mpg with a 99 ta 6 speed and 3.42 gears and thats coming in at over 4000 pounds with me,the wife,custom sub enclosure and everything need for and picked up along the power tour oh and lets not forget the ac on.

I used to drive 65 a day in a cammed, geared (4.10) SS and I would get about 23mpg

Depends on driving, 30mpg straight highway wouldn't be a problem with a healthy 6-speed. I usually average 22-26 with mixed driving, 27-30 mostly highway, with full bolt-ons and no cats. I like that I can play around and still get mid-20s haha, my truck drops down to single digits when I do that (4x4, V8, 5-spd, locker= lots of fun in the snow though)

I drive 32 miles to work then back, for a total commute of 64 miles a day.

My car is a A4 with 2.73's, only mods are a FTRA, SLP lid, and a ported TB. I noticed no increase or loss of mpg with any of those mods.

Straight highway at less than 70mph I've gotten a best tank of 27mpg. But that was 100% highway driving.

During my normal weekly commute, I'll get between 22 and 23mpg, usually right around 22.3.

Now there's not much 'city' at all in that commute, once I get out to the main road it's a 2 lane road with a speed limit of 35, most times I travel between 40-and 45mph with traffic. It's a rural road, not much traffic, but I have 7 traffic lights over ten miles before I hit the highway. Once I hit the highway I try to keep it around 70 (speed limit is 50 in RI, once I get into MA it goes up to 65), but once in a while I'll hit 75-80 if I'm late and traffic is flowing at that speed.

If I do just that drive all week, I'll get around 23, if I do more driving around town that number will drop.

And this is with 93 octane, btw. I tried running a tank of 89 through it once, and while the car seemed to run no differently, the milage dropped by about 2-3mpg. So it's not worth it to use the cheaper gas, it costs more in the long run.

I'm okay with the mileage, I just wish the tank were bigger so I could get a whole week of driving out of it, not just 4 trips to work and back. I HAVE done a week worth of trips to work and back with it, but that was driving with a light foot and ONLY going to work and back, no side trips or other driving at all.

And I'm not one to let it run on fumes, so I usually fill it around the 1/8th mark, which is at around 280 miles or so, which takes between 12 and 13 gallons to fill. These DO have a 16.5 gal tank, so you CAN stretch it further, I just don't feel comfortable doing so.

I gotta say though, I'm kind of getting sick of mine as a DD. Not so much the mileage (although 50 bucks a week IS getting old), but moreso just the comfort factor. I'm just not finding it comfortable anymore for the amount of time I spend in it, and if I want/need to carry more than one passenger it's just not practical for that.

Oh, and I didn't catch where you lived, but you don't want to be driving these in the snow. Yeah, you can, but it's preferable NOT too. I have a Jeep as a winter DD, so the Bird will be getting much less use shortly.

My almost stock 99 Vette 6spd gets 30mpg on the hwy. All I have done is Corse mufflers and Spectre air filter on stock air intake.
