Im prepping my LSX block to paint it black. gotta get rid of the orange.

I wondered what pontiac blue would look like. But I don't think it would look that good in a red car..

this may be a dumb question, but why not paint the heads as well? its all aluminum correct??

nope, an lq4 is cast iron block and aluminum heads.

i think the bare heads look better unpainted myself.

Default chevy orange

hey mcdonald77, beautiful paint!! guess i'm just old but chevy orange is the way to go. and i've had pontiac's too that have been blue. it pays homage to the old school days. speaking of that back in the days of yore we used to go to the car wash with our parts to be painted and shoot them down with "easy-off" oven cleaner,let it sit for a while then hose it off at the carwash worked great before all the new degreasers came along. used it on CASTIRON, its very corrosive so it would etch aluminum, i wouldn't use it on aluminum . but it sure cleans the **** outa castiron parts ,plus you have high pressure water right there to clean the rest of when you use a car wash.

painted my lq4 metalic silver. makes it easier to spot any leaks then a black block.

Our LQ4 is also Pontiac blue, going in our 67 Firebird build. See it on Facebook @ 3 Guys Garage.
