97 vette
I am thinking of buying a 97 vette. My plan is to put a ls2 in the car. I know that 97 is the first year on the ls1. My question is what kind of alterations will I have to the harness to get the ls2 in this car. Also is there any other problems I would run into with this swap. Thanks

My advise... Find one that is already modded because it's expensive to mod vettes. You're easily looking at $10k to do this swap right. You can find a clean H/C/full bolt-on Z06 for $25k and it would be clean.
Just my $.02

Pretty easy. Knock sensor and cam position sensor relocation harnesses. Timing chain cover, valley cover, verify it is a 24x reluctor or you will have to run a box for the ls1 pcm to read the signal. The oil pan and the rest of the covers etc... will work.
TSP and SDPC sell kits that have this stuff included...

ok I have been doing some shopping and I cant make my mind up. I am trying to decide between this 97 vette or a WS6. my goals are to have a 10sec car but i will be doing more roll racing on the street. As Camaro_94 said vettes are more expensive but i like the way they look. The WS6 looks nasty too but i have a lot of parts for f-bodys already. any Input would help...thanks

If I could do it all over again, I'd do a WS6 instead. Your money's going to go a lot farther with one of those. You can buy a clean roller and find one easily for $3k or less. Ive got almost $45k wrapped up in my Z06... And I hate thinking about how much more bad *** a trans am with that much invested would be.
Heavily modded vettes aren't as common as modded fbodies, and it's definately a different feeling driving a vette, but I learned the hard way about modding these things and their expense. I planned on keeping mine stock... And just diving it. That didn't last long once a friend took me for a ride in his C/H/full bolt on 99 FRC.
Eitherway, drive both, and see what one you like better.

Then a H/C/I/full Bolton setup, RPM transmission, LS7 clutch, 100 shot, brakes/rotors, DR's and every other part that goes along with the setup so it's not half assed (bottle heater, purge kit, line locks, remote clutch bleeder, etc) + labor since I was way too afraid to **** anything up on it. At one point, the only part of the drivetrain that was in the car was the shortblock.
