I'd argue that the one on ebay is not a tool. It's threaded rod, a nut, and two washers. If you grease the heck out of the washers it will help, but it's still sub-par. If you are going to do that, just build one yourself for way cheaper than ebay charges ($23).

The bearing on the install tools is vital and actually makes the installation require much much less effort. Once you use a tool with the bearing you'll be surprised at how easy the balancer actually installs. I find that many times you don't even have to hold the crank from spinning because you don't have the friction of the washers trying to turn on the face of the balancer. It's also nice to have the outer nut that's welded on to hold the threaded rod and for removing it once the balancer is in place. It's a little thing, but I sure appreciate it.

If you do the installation often or if you just want to make your installation as easy as possible, I'd buy one of the tools made by the members here on the forum. Both members now sell them through vendors here, we sell one guy's tools, and another vendor sells the other one. Put in the comments that you're a member here and when we process the order we will take $10 off.
