Default Buying my first ss

What should I look for when going to view the car? I know to check for rubber buildup from the tires and to check oil, shifts and knocking. But the car has true duels and has had the comp cam taken out and replaced with the stock cam. When the owner did this he left in the aftermarket springs and retainers. What should I be loooking for?

Make sure it was retuned for the stock cam. I'd be cautious about buying this car and you might want to have it checked out by a shop that knows these cars before you throw down serious money.

Try checking on the drivers doors sticker,to see if it has a wu8 code, which indicates that it is a real ss.

I'd try to figure out what the seller really thinks of the car. Why is he selling. Have a look at the pedals for wear. If the brake pedal is worn bad then that is an indicator of how the vehicle was driven. Take a long test drive and look for smoke out the exhaust. Also be there for the cold start up and listen for piston slap while cold and lifter tick while warm. Lastly, look for obvious stuff missing. Things like header bolts and interior trim peices. Good Luck.

Avoid the car if it has internal engine 'mods, like heads, cam, etc. IMO...

I took the car to superior advanced automotive. They gave it a 8/10 for mechanical health. The car only has 81 k on it. I check for the wu8, which it has on both doors. The interior is pristine also. While it was getting the diagnostic at the shop the temp did not go up at all. Im going to go ahead and purchase it. Already put down the deposit. Ill update with pictures when I get it.
