shipping a hood?
What is the most cost effective way to ship a hood? I found someone near Chicago selling a hood, I live in Maine (45 mins north of Boston). It's a SOM ram air hood.
We were quoted $300-350 to ship a hood. Any ways around this? Cheaper ways to do it?
Appreciate any insight.

cut it up, ship it in small boxes, bondo it back together.
Hoods have to be shipped freight and it costs more. I was quoted 140 to ship from Chicago to Minneapolis (a 6 hour drive) so that sounds about right for how far you are.

Honestly that price seems about right and to answer your question to get a hood shipped from a reputable company is going to cost that much. That is the main reason why most people don't sell hoods because any savings the buyer has from buying used is usually canceled out from the cost of shipping. And really usually the people who chim in regarding prices of shipping hoods are people who buy rare hoods that are not manufactured anymore.
