Since you will be purchasing an automatic car, I would get the GT. As others have noted, the price difference just isn't worth what you're actually getting. If you throw on a couple of bolt-on's, you'll still be spending less and have approximately the same HP.

Yeah, an SRT8 Charger would be a nice way to have a family friendly car but not lose your ***** in the process...
