Default Flowmaster on a CETA??

Got a ceta recently and it has a flowmaster catback from a previous owner. Im wondering whether or not stock catback on CETA's actually flows better than flowmaster...

Based on general consensus around here, the 80 series Flowmaster muffler is restrictive and pretty much undesirable unless the tone is your only concern. The optional SLP dual-dual catback gets a lot of praise for flowing very well though. I don't know enough about CETAs to say whether they all came with the SLP exhaust or not, but if so I would imagine that, yes, the stock exhaust would actually flow better. How significantly, I couldn't tell you.

Flowmaster has proved to cause flow restriction in alot of cases. I personally would stick with CETAS for better flow performance.

The CETA did not come with an SLP exhaust system, just a regular WS6 catback. It has a smaller intermediate pipe, non-mandrel bends, and smaller tail pipes than your current aftermarket catback.

It's true that the crossflow Flowmasters are certainly not the best flowing mufflers available for these cars, but the bigger I-pipe, better bends and larger tail pipes of the complete catback are all superior to your stock piping.

If anything, just swap the muffler to something else aftermarket. The stock WS6/CETA muffler is not anything great, and isn't going to give you any power gain either.

You can swap out the FM80 for a Dynomax Ultra-Flo #17536(3" exits) or #17227(2.5" exits) depending on the outlet size of you FM80 muffler. You can go with a Magnaflow muffler if yours has 2.5" exits, but the case is noticeably shorter than the FM80.

The only f bodys that had anything to do with slp was the SS and firehawk. Ws6's went to ASC I believe to get converted.

A guy on this forum once cut open a stock muffler and posted pics of the internals. You wouldn't believe how much crap is in there. ANYTHING will flow better than that.

Ill probably swap out for a hooker muffler in the future.
